Women voters lining up behind Obama - Los Angeles Times

"I can't understand the thinking of how someone would jump from Hillary to McCain," Clinton supporter Marilyn Authenreith, said. "It doesn't make any sense." "Women are voting for Obama because they dislike Bush, they dislike McCain, they dislike the war, and they're upset about the economy, and those facts override any concerns about the primary"

Obama's Father's Day Speech

The speech soon-to-be heard and discussed around the world had nothing to do with politics.
"...too many fathers are mia (military acronym for missing in action)...they've abandoned their responsibilities...acting like boys rather than men...any fool can have a child..."
These are just bits of the speech given by presumptive presidential candidate, Barack Obama (D) on Sunday at Apostolic Church of God on 63rd and Dorchester, in Chicago.
Concerned, educated blacks have been pointing this fact about black families out for years.
This morning on CNN, Roland Martin said,
"Folks are concurring what he said. I know Roland comments on the state of the black family during his radio show on WVON in Chicago, frequently.
Roland also pointed out that single family households are not wholly a black issue.
Roldand said, it is a problem in America where 50 percent of white households are fatherless as well.
Obama actually lived this life of absentee father. His dad left at two--but he was lucky to have his mother and grandparents lend a hand in his rearing.
Matter of fact, the destruction of American families has been an important topic most of my lifetime. Did it start with the sexual revolution of the sixties? I dunno.
Or during slavery when families were routinely torn apart and sold to different slave masters? I dunno.
What I do know is that Barack should be speaking on this issue and Roland Martin agreed.
Mentioned also were comments made by Bill Cosby in 2005. However, Mr. Cosby's comments differed in tone and content.
"...Essentially, Cosby validated the perception that African-Americans who are economically disadvantaged have bad work ethics, low morals, misplaced priorities and distasteful lifestyle choices.
And they have no one to blame for their predicament but themselves," according to an article I wrote in 2005, for the Boca Raton News.
Cosby's comments are wayyyyy different in tone, content and intent.
Cosby was speaking not before a church on Father's Day but addressing his peers at some gala. It was a have vs. have not type deal.
Obama related a personal story of his childhood. He has first hand knowledge of how it feels to grow up with dad not around. And now he is on the verge of being president, so the microphone is in his hand.
He has come a long way and seems like a great dad himself to his two beautiful daughters.
Roland said critics of Obama should shut up criticizing and stop "running their mouths."

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, Dad and Bill. Both of my grandpa's have passed away but my children are blessed enough to still have my Dad around. My father took my son bike riding early this morning. I bought him a bike several Father's Days ago but someone stole it so he rode my mother's bike.
My brother got my Dad a metal detector for a Father's Day gift. It's something that he has always wanted but never got around to buying for himself.

Credit Cards Club

Presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, said during a recent speech in Chicago that he is in favor of a system of credit card rating that will help consumers decided which card is best for them.
This idea can go far in helping those interested in navigating the vast array of credit card offers so that they don't financially overextend themselves.
This is especially true with business credit cards.

Business credit cards provide with flexible spending in your business. It can provide one balance, one account which can lead to fantastic rewards to your business.

With a Business Credit Card, you can get a flexible cash flow and depending on which card you choose, free interest or other perks.
It is also good to separate your personal spending from your business expenditures.

Right to bear arms

On Monday the Supreme Court will return to the bench to consider 17 gun cases which includes a comprehensive look at the Second Amendment's right to bear arms.

The victory is looked to go to supporters of gun rights. Rumor has it that top guns control officials expect the ban on handguns in our nation's capital to be shot down (pun intended)but expect other gun regulations to make it.

Lifelock

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States, costing Americans $1.2 billion annually.
Last year, identity theft increased on a national average of 1%. No state is immune.

They are the latest to offer its members the Lifelock identity theft protection service immediately via AAA’s Show Your Card and Save program.
But they are not the only ones interested in lifelock. Many have found it is a great place to work. Lifelock is looking for good people to join their team.
LifeLock is the nation’s first and only identity theft protection service and backs it up with a $1 million service guarantee.

Hoosiers struggle to find work :: Business :: Post-Tribune

While most people seem to think that the jump in unemployment is not as serious as it is, I have a different opinion.
Cracks in the foundation as far as employment in this city began a while ago. As stated in this article, there is little to no employment opportunities in the entire city of Gary.
That is difficult to take, difficult to live with.

Dave Breit feels like a mosquito in a swamp, he said in the Gary Work One office as he slapped his arm and pretended to wipe away a bug.Breit worked for Union Tank Car until last month when it closed. He said he has "long-term commitments and short-term cash."
